I’m still on an Incubus high.
Following up my previous post about the concert last Thursday, here is a piece I drew influenced by their song, The Warmth. I’m so inspired by this band, and Brandon’s artwork, that I’m actually starting a new project, called Strand-ed. It’s a compilation of artwork, photography, and journals (just like Brandon’s books) as a sort of visual diary for myself as a growing artist. I’m pretty set on the title of the compilation since I’ve thought it through, but maybe it’ll change. We’ll see.

This is my first piece for the compilation. I didn’t want to name it The Warmth, since that would be copying their song title, so I’m still thinking of a title for it. If only I could ask Brandon Boyd what to name this piece!

P.S. The original piece is actually just the whale itself drawn in pencil, but it lacked a lot, so I digitally combined my water color piece with it through Photoshop. It’s now my desktop wallpaper. Haha!

If Not Now, When?

Never have I expected to be inspired by a concert. Incubus was exceptional.
It was just like listening to the CD, which is incredible. They performed 20 songs! 20 SONGS!! That’s insane. They were generous enough to play 3 songs during the encore!

They played two of my favorites from their new album: In The Company of Wolves & Promises, Promises

I’m definitely glad I watched it. This was their third time to perform here in the Philippines, and I actually wasn’t really a fan the first two times they visited, but let’s pretend that’s not true.

So since I’m incredibly inspired by Brandon Boyd, I’m currently working on a few illustrations inspired by their songs and his artwork. I’ll post them when they’re done.

P.S. Besides losing my voice and singing the shit out of their songs, all I could look at was the photographer’s pit and think how glorious it would’ve been to be able to take pictures. That’s seriously one of my goals. So I just had to make do with this Sony Cyber-shot Point & Shoot.

THANK YOU ANTON ARGUELLES!

Represent! The Legit Status Fundraising Concert

This was seriously legit. Haha!
Congrats Legit Status! You guys killed it! I didn’t really get enough photos though, cause they barely used light on you guys compared to the other performers.

Definitely one of the best concerts I’ve been to!

Despite the VIP & Gold mix up, we still managed to make our way to the front! Hahaha! The producers gave this and a Paramore shirt to make up for the problem! Not disappointed! :))
