Woodie, Follow the Grain
Photo by my brother, Alec Yatco
I’m still on an Incubus high.
Following up my previous post about the concert last Thursday, here is a piece I drew influenced by their song, The Warmth. I’m so inspired by this band, and Brandon’s artwork, that I’m actually starting a new project, called Strand-ed. It’s a compilation of artwork, photography, and journals (just like Brandon’s books) as a sort of visual diary for myself as a growing artist. I’m pretty set on the title of the compilation since I’ve thought it through, but maybe it’ll change. We’ll see.
This is my first piece for the compilation. I didn’t want to name it The Warmth, since that would be copying their song title, so I’m still thinking of a title for it. If only I could ask Brandon Boyd what to name this piece!
P.S. The original piece is actually just the whale itself drawn in pencil, but it lacked a lot, so I digitally combined my water color piece with it through Photoshop. It’s now my desktop wallpaper. Haha!
If Not Now, When?

Never have I expected to be inspired by a concert. Incubus was exceptional.
It was just like listening to the CD, which is incredible. They performed 20 songs! 20 SONGS!! That’s insane. They were generous enough to play 3 songs during the encore!
They played two of my favorites from their new album: In The Company of Wolves & Promises, Promises
I’m definitely glad I watched it. This was their third time to perform here in the Philippines, and I actually wasn’t really a fan the first two times they visited, but let’s pretend that’s not true.
So since I’m incredibly inspired by Brandon Boyd, I’m currently working on a few illustrations inspired by their songs and his artwork. I’ll post them when they’re done.
P.S. Besides losing my voice and singing the shit out of their songs, all I could look at was the photographer’s pit and think how glorious it would’ve been to be able to take pictures. That’s seriously one of my goals. So I just had to make do with this Sony Cyber-shot Point & Shoot.
THANK YOU ANTON ARGUELLES!
First time to be on a contributors page!

This was seriously legit. Haha!
Congrats Legit Status! You guys killed it! I didn’t really get enough photos though, cause they barely used light on you guys compared to the other performers.

Fashion Watch 2011 @ Shangri La
Didn’t really have anything to do today, so I tagged along with my friend, Luis, to his sister’s event, with Troy & Lauren. Barely took any photos, cause I brought the wrong lens. Don’t you just hate it when that happens? Haha, I did what I could though.

This was actually the first fashion show I’ve ever seen, although this event seems more casual, since it’s not on an actual runway. Great event though!

I decided to bump this up to the top of my to do list, mainly because I remember someone asking me if I was gonna do one for the Philippines. Well, here you go! Haha! Hope you fellow Filipinos like it!

Feels awesome seeing one of my photos on the Radar again after so long! Even though it’s just local. Haha! Thanks again to Legit Status for having me as their photographer! Good luck guys! Bring it home!
Funny seeing Nigel Barker with hair!
I finally had my first photo shoot using studio lights! Well, I only used two speedlights, so I don’t think they should be called studio lights. Haha! I’m such a newbie. I’d definitely rather do natural light!
