Do you have any tips for doing food photography? I know most people say it's best to use natural light but what if you want to take pictures indoors or at night where a flash or man made lighting is necessary? Thanks!

Yes, natural light is amazing on food, but for artificial light, it’s best to soften the light as much as you can, so you don’t create really harsh shadows on your food.

For these two dishes I cooked: carbonara & rigatoni, I made use of the white walls in my apartment. I used my external flash and pointed it directly at the wall to diffuse the light. If you don’t have white walls, you can definitely just get a white foam board, or anything similar and diffuse your light using that!

Happy shooting,
and most importantly, eating!
